Extracting prickly pear oil is a very time consuming and difficult process. Approximately a million seeds are needed to produce a litre of oil, and these seeds are almost as hard as pebbles. After they are separated from the fruit pulp, they are washed thoroughly and air-dried before being cold-pressed by hand. The entire process takes nearly a week, but the reward is the unmatched purity and quality of the end product.
